Observations from Third Base

Mahjong is a fascinating game. Usually played with four persons, it requires both concentration and finesse. Lately, there seems to be a proliferation of smart phones joining us at ‘the table’. In addition to taking up space… they are left on….just in case someone might miss a very important call. Yesterday, two women were in the midst of a game and talking on the phone. I started to snarl. They didn’t care.

I think I might take a baby sitting job and bring some little screamers to the game. Think the others will get the message? Obviously they live for them.

Is it coming to this? Cell phone in the tub too? No rest time…no time out.
